Team Breakdown: West Virginia - Tyson Chupp

West Virginia got to the sweet sixteen by them beating Murray State with a score of 85-68. They beat Marshall 94-71. Jevon Carter has been key, leading them to the sweet sixteen while posting a season high of 28 points.

Let’s start off with their best player, Jevon Carter. He plays about 35 minutes a game. He’s not selfish, he averages 6.6 assists per game. His field goal percentage is .426 and his three point percentage is .398. He averages 4.7 rebounds a game. He averages 3 steals a game. He averages 17.4 points a game. But he does average 2.7 turnovers a game. In the game against Marshall he had a season high of 28 points along with 5 steals and 5 assists. Jevon works really hard his coach Bob Huggins saw him pressing at 8am in high school by himself. Then Bob called his assistants and said “We have got to sign this guy”.

West Virginia is in the Big 12 conference. The teams that they play in the conference is Texas Tech, Texas, TCU, Oklahoma state, Oklahoma, Kansas state, Kansas, Iowa state, and Baylor. Their biggest rival is probably Kansas now but there old rival was Pittsburg.

West Virginia's record at the end of conference play was 26-10. They lost to Kansas three times, Texas, Oklahoma state, Iowa state, Kentucky, TCU, Texas Tech, and Texas A&M. All the games they lost were under 20 points. There biggest blow out was when the beat Morgan State 111 to 48.

There top 2 best wins were, like I said number 1 is when they played Morgan State and they won 111-48. Number 2 is when they played NJIT and beat them 102-69. Those were pretty big blow outs.

West Virginia is ranked 10 in forced turnovers a game. They press any time they can in the game. Their nickname is Press Virginia. So they are really good at defence and defensive pressure.

Their coach is Bob Huggins. He is a great coach. He has won 11 conference championships, but all were with Cincinnati. He does not have a conference championship yet with West Virginia. He did lead West Virginia to the final four.
