The Unbelievable Shot - Beck Willems and Tristan Mast

Michigan State and Syracuse tied at 22. But know one's shot will fall through. A defensive game for the two. Fans are thinking what will they do? If someone's shot would just fall, no one would have to worry at all! Michigan State has the ball, waiting for Tom Izzo to make the call. Five seconds on the clock. Hoping the ball won’t get blocked. Reversing the ball around the perimeter, the defender missed it by a centimeter. Now it’s time to take a shot. They need to hit it on the dot. Now they pass it to Matt McQuaid, open in the corner far away. Now he shoots! It’s tipped, it’s blocked! .9 seconds remaining on the clock. He catches it in mid air. He throws it up like he doesn’t care. It banks and swishes as buzzer blares. That shot he made is super rare! The crowd goes wild…but... This was not the Spartan victory though. Michigan State lost by two free throws.

Who Will Win the Tourney? - Beck Willems

This year's NCAA tournament has been filled with crazy upsets, besides this point I think the Villanova Wildcats have the best chance of winning this year's NCAA tournament. Villanova is the highest ranked team left in the tournament, and have swept past their opponents in the tournament so far. The Wildcats are hungry for a championship after getting defeated by the Wisconsin badgers in the round of 32 last year. Leading the wildcats are junior guards jalen Brunson and Michael Bridges. Both guards are highly ranked as individual players, and are big leaders for the Wildcats. Villanova has the best chance of winning the tourney because of their officiant offense and scrapy defense that has led them to success this year. I believe the Wildcats have the best chance to win, but that doesn’t guarantee anything . The Kansas Jayhawks who are also a one seed also have a chance to win it this year being led by their senior point guard Devonte’ Graham, the Jayhawks made it to the

Loyola-Chicago had a great regular season and conference tournament. They are continuing their amazing run trying to get to the Final Four and win this March Madness. They are coming in as an 11 seed, and have defeated a 6 seed (Miami), a 3 seed (Tennessee), and a 7 seed (Nevada). The game against Miami and Tennessee ended with buzzer beaters for the Ramblers.

Team Breakdown: Florida State - Samuel Klopfenstein

Florida state has a 22-11 record and they are ranked 30th in the season. Although they lost their first game in there conference tourney they are doing very well in march madness. They are doing well because they are the fastest team left meaning they get shots up fast and get down the court fast. They beat one seed and a four seed and they are a nine seed. They have three players averaging more that twelve points, Brian Angola, Terrance Mann and Phil Cofer who can shoot and post up and is a real threat. I think that with their speed and players they could beat Michigan.

Team Breakdown: Duke - Megan Hanton

Image
Duke is in the sweet 16. They are in the conference of NCAA Atlantic coast. There regular season record was 28- 7. Duke’s best players are Marvin Bagley the third, Grayson Allen, and Gary Trent JR. Marvin is good because he has the most points and rebounds in a game. Grayson and Gary are good because they both get the most free throw points a game. Duke is good at both offense and defense. They are ranked third place for offense and 8 place in defense.

Team Breakdown: Purdue - Ethan Torres

The team of Purdue is considered on of the best teams in Indiana, their conference (the Big 10), and the whole country. They defeated Butler in the round of 32 to make their way to the Sweet 16. Their offense is very efficient, ranking 2nd in the nation according the KenPom rankings. In those rankings, they were ranked 28th in defense and 5th overall. However, they may have trouble advancing as one of their best players, Isaac Haas, fractured his elbow in their first round game.

Team Breakdown: Texas A&M - Jaidyn Yoder

Texas A&M got to the Sweet 16 by beating North Carolina, 86-65. Throughout that game, Texas A&M had really good defense and strategy. Robert Williams, who wears number 44, has played the best defense on the team in the season, and in their North Carolina game. Tyler Davis is also a great player, averaging the most points for the team with 14. He's 6'10, one of the tallest players on the team.

Loyola is an eleven seed in this year's NCAA tournament. They are in the sweet sixteen which is pretty amazing since an eleven seed making it to the sweet sixteen is uncommon. Although, they have earned their spot in the sweet sixteen by hitting two buzzer beaters to win the games against Tennessee and Miami. Clayton Custer a former Iowa State guard hit a miracle shot with very little time left against the high ranked tennessee team to advance onward to the sweet sixteen. Loyola may have hit some lucky shots, but they are a strong team capable of doing more damage in the tourney. The ramblers finished first in their conference regular season with a 15-3 record, and won their conference tournament beating Illinois state 65-49. Their overall record at the moment is 30-5. Leading Loyola to all their success is a 6-1 185 pound junior guard Clayton Custer. Custer averages 13.3 PPG, 2.2 RPG, and 4.2 APG so far this season. Loyola is ranked 63 in offense and 27 in defense. Loyola

Kansas St. is in big 12 conference. Some of Kansas State's best wins are West Virginia, Texas Tech and Kansas. There are many more but these are just 3 best wins. Kansas State is ranked 75 in offense and 20 in defense. They are also ranked 303 in how fast they play, which means they really slow the pace of the game. Their last game played with UMBC the score was 44-41. This is the game that advanced them to the sweet 16. Kansas State's conference score is 10-8 and overall is 24-11 their home game was 14-4 and their away games are 6-5. Some of Kansas State's best players are Cartier Diarra and Dean Wade. Nevada has had an amazing run in the NCAA tourney. They got to the Sweet 16 by coming back in both games they played. Against Texas, they were down by 14 and came back to win in overtime. Against the no. 6 seed in the country Cincinnati, Nevada came back after losing by 22 points 16:00 minutes into the second half. But with 55 seconds left, score 70-73 Cincinnati, Caleb Martin the forward was in the corner and banged a three to tie game with 54 seconds left. Nevada still had a chance. 9 seconds left. Josh Hall got the rebound and layered it in for the win. In their conference tourney they lost in the final to San Diego St. Who are thei

Villanova got in to the sweet 16 by beating Alabama 81-53, they also beat Radfored 87-61. The first two games were fairly easy for the Wildcats as they advance to the sweet sixteen. Villanova’s best players are Mikal Bridges and Jalen Brunson. Bridges is good because he averages 18 points and  rebounds 5.4 a game. Brunson averages 19 points and gets 4.7 assists a game. Villanova  is from the big East conference, they have won the big East tournament 8 times this year. Including this year. In their  regular season they were second, first was Xavier. Villanova has been one of the most impressive teams in the tournament this year. Villanova is the slowest team out of all teams left because they slow it down and create movement. Villanova has the best offense, and are ranked 19th in the country for their defense. Villanova will play West Virginia next. West Virginia beat Marshall in the tournament. I want Villanova to bet them them.

Team Breakdown: West Virginia - Tyson Chupp

West Virginia got to the sweet sixteen by them beating Murray State with a score of 85-68. They beat Marshall 94-71. Jevon Carter has been key, leading them to the sweet sixteen while posting a season high of 28 points. Let’s start off with their best player, Jevon Carter. He plays about 35 minutes a game. He averages 17.4 points a game. But he does average 2.7 turnovers a game. In the game against Marshall he had a season high of 28 points along with 5 steals and 5 assists. West Virginia is in the Big 12 conference. The teams that they play in the conference is Texas Tech, Texas, TCU, Oklahoma state, Oklahoma, Kansas state, Ka
